Stacy Schiff

The Peggy V. Helmerich Distinguished Author Award is an annual award given by the Tulsa Library Trust and Tulsa City-County Library. Its purpose is to give formal recognition, on behalf of the Tulsa County community, to internationally acclaimed authors who have written a distinguished body of work and made a major contribution to the field of literature and letters.

The 2019 Peggy V. Helmerich Distinguished Author Award recipient is Stacy Schiff, Pulitzer Prize-winning and bestselling biographer.

Stacy Schiff is the author of five best selling an highly acclaimed biographies. Her first book, A Great Improvisation, was the winner of the George Washington Book Prize, her next book, Saint-Exupery, was a Pulitzer Prize finalist and her book Vera: Mrs. Vladimir Nabokov, won the Pulitzer Prize for biography in 2000. Ms. Schiff’s two most recent books, Cleopatra and The Witches: Suspicion, Betrayal, and Hysteria in 1692 Salem have both been #1 best sellers. The Wall Street Journal has called Schiff “perhaps the most seductive writer of nonfiction prose in America in our time.”

Magic City Books is proud to be the bookselling partner for the public event on Saturday December 7 at Central Library. Ms. Schiff will give a public address followed by a book signing.
