Native Stories – Morning Star

August 9, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Morning Star is a story of two very real powerful forces colliding, each claiming God on their side–Two Manifest Destinies.
The previously untold story of a man, known by historians as Dull Knife, but known to his people as Wohehiv, or Morning Star. When the author, Richard DeSirey, first met with the descendants of Morning Star in 1986 there were 5 separate accounts of his death at 5 different times in history books. His descendants had been sharing oral histories among themselves for over a hundred years, resolved to withholding the story of their grandfather from the outside world.
This book is the result of thirty years of research and the desire to bring the story of Morning Star to a wider audience. Revealed is was what motivated this man to lead the only tribe that left Indian Territory, opposing the US government with ten thousand troops and two thousand civilians determined to stop them from returning “where they were made to be”.
Once read, this story will never be forgotten.
Morning Star is now available at Magic City Books, the event is free and open to the public.
