February 26 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
We welcome Michael Wright to join us in the store for the release of his new novel, Down the Ocean: Summer of ’64.
The book centers on Roy Newson, a young man from Baltimore that finds himself at loose ends: his girlfriend has dumped him, he’s quit college to work in a steel mill and the only escape from reality is spending weekends in Ocean City where he longs to find true love–and a good wave to ride. When he meets free-spirit Dina on the beach, Roy begins to believe that his dreams might just come true.
Michael Wright is a published/produced creator of plays for stage and radio, writer of short stories and poetry, and a spoken word and visual artist. He is the founder and moderator of the Fictional Characters Writers Collective and serves on the Board of Directors for Circle Cinema. Wright has received awards for his work as a teacher of playwriting from the Association for Theatre in Higher Education and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Wright will be reading a chapter of the book and will discuss his novel and his many plays, poems and short stories. This event is free and open to the public.
