Binnie Kirshenbaum

September 9, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Magic City Books is proud to welcome Binnie Kirshenbaum, a master of razor-edged literary humor and chair of the Columbia University Writing Program to celebrate her first novel in a decade. Rabbits for Food is a devastating, laugh-out-loud funny story of a writer’s slide into depression and institutionalization.

Propelled by stand-up comic timing and rife with pinpoint insights, Kirshenbaum examines what it means to be unloved and loved, to succeed and fail, to be at once impervious and raw. Rabbits for Food shows how art can lead us out of—or into—the depths of disconsolate loneliness and piercing grief. A bravura literary performance from one of our most witty and indispensable writers.

Binnie Kirshenbaum is the author of six novels, including On Mermaid AvenueHester Among the RuinsAn Almost Perfect Moment, and The Scenic Route. Her work has been translated into seven languages.

Binnie will be in conversation with Tulsa Artist Fellow Juliana Goodman. Juliana has received several awards and scholarships for her writing and was a 2014 Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Arts Award Finalist. She’s had work published in Sigma Tau Delta’s Rectangle, Blackberry: a Magazine and Fiyah Literary Magazine.

This event is free and open to the public.
